HOWTO disable 'Autoconfiguration Enabled'?  I believe this is the APIPA stuff.
To make a long story short, a customer of mine has set up his laptop so that the eithernet adapter has a static IP, but the wireless uses DHCP. He is telling me that when he does an ipconfig /all, the ethernet adapter is showing a auto configured IP address which is prefered over the static IP address. Further more, Autoconfiguration is set to Yes.I did find a thread that pointed me to this KB: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;244268 which the poster in the tread said it applied to Windows 7. I am not seeing the Autoconfiguration getting set to No, though. Am I missing something?Sam

Hi Sam, According to the KB article, you need to manually add the key and define a value for it.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Too true, and not any value, but specifically a DWORD (which happens to be a 32-bit number). For this it should be only 0 or 1, and defaults to 1 if it isn't there. What I am trying to figure out is: what is your point? What I ADD the DWORD value, I see no change.
